Wawa

Josh Scheiderer   -

Summer means it’s time for the great American road trip, and that means stopping at the gas station. When we first moved to Bucks County, PA seven years ago we were introduced to a couple things immediately. One was Yum Yum doughnuts (please finish the remodel SOON!), and the other was Wawa.

Wawa. If there’s one thing the Delaware Valley loves it’s Wawa.

And since they love it, they talk about it. They love Wawa coffee any time of day it seems, and they tell you about it. They love Wawa hoagies, and they ask if you’ve had one yet. They love Wawa convenience and clean restrooms, and they aren’t afraid to admit they go to Wawa nearly every day.

I felt like I was being evangelized for Wawa when we first arrived, like it was a religion or something. “Have you been to Wawa yet? No?! Well you gotta go!”

I’m kind of resistant to fads so I drank the Kool-Aid real slow. At first I just bought gas at Wawa. Then I received some gift cards and bought some hoagies. And as time went on I became a convert!

Let me tell you what I love about Wawa (in no particular order)

  • Clean restrooms
  • Meatball hoagies
  • Free air for tires
  • Burrito bowls
  • Bacon mac & cheese
  • Fresh fruit
  • Fast chip card readers
  • Ice cream sundaes (Have you tried one?? Oh my!)
  • Smoothies (my athletes love ‘em)
  • Fast check-out
  • Ubiquitous locations

In fact I was travelling on vacation recently, and I felt like my vehicle had a tire that was low on air. I knew where the next Wawa was and took care of the problem lickity split. That’s Wawa. Love it.

Now you’re probably thinking that there has to be a point to this blog post. Either that or I should be getting compensated for this long commercial for Wawa. There is.

Here’s the point: we talk about what we love.

I’ve got a whole lot of friends around here who love Wawa. So they talk about it.

I’ve also got a whole lot of friends who love Jesus. So…
